A Remarkable Recovery After DBS Surgery

Mr. Pravin Pansare | Parkinson’s Disease | 6 Months After DBS

Mr. Pravin Pansare’s Inspiring Journey with Young-Onset Parkinson’s Disease

Parkinson’s Disease can affect individuals at any stage of life, but when it develops at a young age, the emotional, professional, and physical impact can be especially challenging. For younger patients, the disease often interferes with career goals, independence, mobility, and long-term quality of life during what should be the most productive years of their lives. However, advanced treatment options like Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery are helping many patients regain control, confidence, and hope for the future.

Mr. Pravin Pansare, a 38-year-old electronic machine operator, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2020 at a very young age. His profession required extreme precision, hand coordination, concentration, and technical skill, making even subtle motor difficulties highly impactful on his daily work and overall confidence.

He initially developed slowness of activity in the left upper limb, which gradually began interfering with routine movements and fine motor tasks. Over time, he started experiencing freezing of gait, dystonia involving the upper limb, gait unsteadiness, and episodes of retropulsion, significantly affecting his mobility and balance. These symptoms progressively impacted both his professional efficiency and quality of life.

Challenges Beyond Medication

As the disease progressed, he also began developing side effects related to Parkinson’s medications, making long-term medical management increasingly challenging. Considering his young age and atypical symptom progression, an extensive diagnostic evaluation was performed to rule out other neurological conditions.

His EMG and NCV studies were conducted to exclude neuropathy and Stiff Person Syndrome, and the findings were normal. In addition, Whole Exome Sequencing performed in April 2025 did not reveal any abnormal phenotype or genetic mutation related to Parkinson’s Disease.

After comprehensive neurological assessment and multidisciplinary evaluation, he was considered an appropriate candidate for Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery.

A Life-Changing Turning Point

Mr. Pravin Pansare underwent DBS surgery on 03/12/2025.

The surgery proved to be a major turning point in his life.

Following DBS, he showed remarkable improvement in his motor symptoms, gait disturbances, and functional abilities. His episodes of freezing reduced significantly, mobility improved, and he gradually regained control over activities that had become increasingly difficult before surgery.

Most importantly, the improvement allowed him to return completely to his professional work as an electronic machine operator — a job demanding exceptional precision and technical accuracy.

Regaining Confidence, Career, and Independence

For a young individual with an entire future ahead of him, DBS became more than just a treatment; it became a source of renewed independence, confidence, and hope. The procedure enabled him to resume his career, regain productivity, and return to leading an active and meaningful life.

Living with Young-Onset Parkinson’s Disease can be emotionally and physically exhausting, particularly when symptoms begin affecting work, mobility, and daily functioning at an early age. Mr. Pravin Pansare’s recovery journey demonstrates how timely intervention and advanced neuromodulation therapy can significantly improve long-term outcomes and quality of life.

A Story of Hope for Young Parkinson’s Patients

Mr. Pravin Pansare’s journey highlights the transformative role of Deep Brain Stimulation in Young-Onset Parkinson’s Disease, especially in patients whose symptoms and medication-related complications begin affecting their livelihood and quality of life early in life.

His story stands as an inspiring example of how advanced neuromodulation therapy can help patients reclaim not only movement, but also their confidence, career, independence, and future.

For many individuals living with Parkinson’s Disease, DBS surgery offers more than symptom control — it offers the opportunity to return to the life they once feared they were losing.
