Mahendra Story

I was an active person, I enjoy staying busy and doing outdoor activities. It was all good with my family and business, a small happy family of myself, my wife and my son, until I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at the age of 48.

I was struggling with the initial signs of Parkinson’s disease. It was initially heartbreaking and difficult to accept that there was something happening to me. I noticed signs like a slight, persistent tremor in my right hand, slowness of my movements, slowly losing my ability to write legibly.

In the early stages, would have a lot of success with exercise and water therapy was especially beneficial, as it would eliminate my fear of falling. After duration of 5yrs of my disease; I finally had to face reality because, the drugs were no longer helping me. I used to work 7 days a week almost 24/7. This was later on limited to 2-3 days a week and that too for only few hours. It is at this time that enough is enough and I made a decision to have DBS surgery.

I am just so grateful for the advice and treatment from Dr.Paresh Doshi & Team. I HIGHLY recommend DBS to any PD person who is no longer functional with the meds! It’s not for everyone and you must be a suitable candidate.
